Before Mister OK’s Essentials launched in 2017, she spent years climbing the corporate ranks of Nike as a designer where she started as an intern. Deep down, however, Precious Hannah-King knew she was an entrepreneur and one day she wanted to have her own “something.”

Precious Hannah-King is the founder of Mister OK’s Essentials which launched in 2017.

But before starting Mister OK’s Essentials in Portland, Hannah-King admits she was “10-toes-down” and dedicated to Nike.

“I was corporate all day,” she admitted.

Networking At The Corporate Level To Build A Networth

Embracing her unique opportunity as a designer at Nike, she focused on learning. Her job was to design sneakers, apparel, accessories and practically anything Nike wanted her to design. When she wasn’t at her desk, she dedicated time to meeting with colleagues. Anyone who had something to teach, she met over coffee. Aiming for ten conversations a day, the networking taught her how to talk and how to connect with people authentically.

“It wasn’t about what “you” could do for me, but creating a relationship with [my colleagues],” Hannah-King said.

Her colleagues, she shared, skeptically asked her what she needed from them. But it wasn’t that she needed anything from them, per se. If anything, Hannah-King said she wanted to learn who they were and how they got to their positions.

“I want to understand ‘your’ struggles,” she said she often told her colleagues. “so I don’t go through the same thing you went through.”

With colleagues referring her to another, she dedicated time and effort to meeting everyone. She said she was authentic with her intentions in her networking, too. The more she reached out, her network grew.

Partnerships and Collaborations: ‘People Talking To People’

Her days at Nike that taught her the importance of collaboration. So at the opportunity to collborate, she jumped. The surreal moment happend during a pitch meeting with her favorite tea company, in Oregon, the Steve Smith Teamaker.

Fr8qu8ncy’s Emery Morrison, left, linked up with Precious Hannah-King of Mister OK’s Essentials o discuss the impact of partnerships and collaborations.

Calling it one of her favorite collaborations, the collaboration focused on an experiences for the five senses. The soy candle was a wooden wicked made of cedar and bergamot and gentle notes of jasmine, tonka and vetiver. And it was paried with the teas Lord Bergamot and/or Jasmine Silver Tip.

Mister OK Essentials with Steven Smith Teamakers.
Mister OK’s Essentials partnered with Steven Smith Teamaker for a unique experience that taps into the five senses with a candle for scent and tea for taste just by sipping a cuppa tea.

Trying not to fangirl during the presentation she said she had to tell herself to keep her cool. After all — “Partnerships and collaborations,” Hannah-King said. “are people talking to people.”

It was the meeting with the renowned Oregon teamakers that she knew she was on to something special.

“If I could do this partnership with them,” she said. “I wondered who else I could partner with.”

That’s when the other brands wanted the hand-pour quality of Mister OK’s Essentials.

So, naturally, for Hannah-King, got to work. Her partnerships boasts corporate heavy hitters like Black Footwear Forum, Adidas, Jordan, Nike, BET, Steven Smith Teamaker, Google, Portland Gear and more.

One Collaboration Leads To The Next

There’s no denying that the first collaboration opened the doors for the second and third and more for Mister OK’s Essentials. All of it, Hannah-King attributes back to networking.

According to Fr8qu8ncy founder, Emery Morrison, forming partnerships provides insight into market trends to better connect with audiences and consumers. The results are captivating, too.

Morrison and Hannah-King first met at the July 2024 Essence Festival in the Soko Market. Since the duo have met regularly to discuss partnerships and collaborations with included talks on 2025 collaborations leading up to the Grammy’s Week Fr8qu8ncy Networking Event in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.

Mister OK’s Essentials debut during the Essence Festival 2024.

“Package collaboration with data-driven insights with experiential marketing,” Morrison said. “And find yourself on an illuminating path to profitability for both established brands and entrepreneurial newcomers like Mister OK’s Essentials.”

“It’s about delivering,” Hannah-King pointed out. “There are deadlines, deliverables and making sure it’s completed.”

Mister OK’s Essentials has different partnerships with a number of corporate brands that also includes Adidas and Google.

Mister OK’s Essentials: The Modern Scent Experience

She didn’t think she’d ever leave her corporate job. Leaving Nike, meant embracing her dream to “own something” which eventually led to the launch of Mister OK’s Essentials — a modern scent experience of handcrafted candles and natural bath and body products.

Mister Ok's Essentials Bachelor Pad candle
Mister OK’s Essentials candle Bachelor Pad is among the unique scents from the collection of natural soy candles.

“Being in corporate you learn a lot of different things,” Hannah-King said. “But I think it’s imperative for people to understand that you need to make a decision whether you’re going to stay there and be a lifer in corporate or if you’re going to move on and say, ‘I want to do something different.’”

This vision led her to establish Mister OK’s Essentials. With Mister OK’s Essentials, she envisioned a space where scents evoke emotions, spark memories and create a sense of sanctuary in everyday life.

Every day, Hannah-King is dedicated to crafting unique and evocative fragrances that elevate the ambiance of any space.  Her promise — real soy candles, refreshing room sprays and nourishing bath and body care products without the gunk. She was also seen in ESPN ads during the election encouraging voters of the greater Northern Virginia region to vote.

Social Media Reactions and Comparisons to Fergie

The performance quickly went viral on social media, with many users criticizing Loomis’ rendition and comparing it to Fergie’s controversial performance of the National Anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Some users mocked the performance, while others offered constructive criticism or blamed the production team for technical difficulties that preceded the performance. Fergie later apologized, too.

Loomis Pops Up At The KDAY Morning Show

The KDAY Morning Show with Romeo in Los Angeles at 93.5 KDAY welcomed Loomis on Nov. 8 to talk about what’s happened since.

“Here’s the deal,” KDAY Morning Show host, Romeo said. “I didn’t know that was your first time [singing the National Anthem in public], so now I have more sympathy for you. That’s one of the hardest songs in the world to do.”

Loomis told Romeo, during her time at KDAY, she agreed to sing the National Anthem at the debate even though she was “scared.”

“I never turned down nothing I am scared of even if I am scared,” she shared with Romeo candidly.

Grammy award-winning producer, Nomad, also surprised Romeo and the KDAY team by popping up in support of Loomis.

Looking Ahead: SKANK Season

Unexpectedly, on Oct. 30 on Instagram, Nomad, who recently made headlines for putting a new spin on Milli Vanilli’s ‘Blame It on the Rain’ With Help From Original Member Fab Morvan announced a collaboration with Loomis.

7 Things To Consider Before Donating For The 420 Friendly

Donating blood saves lives, but some factors can disqualify someone from donating. Smoking cannabis does not disqualify someone from donating blood unless high while donating. Cannabis users should not feel discouraged from donating blood. Donating blood once can save up to three people. It can help people who need blood from a car accident or someone with sickle cell disease.

Someone donating blood Donating Blood Saves Lives
Donating blood saves lives. So 420 friendly donors can donate too. It’s just asked to not show up under the influence.

Donating Blood Saves Lives

According to the American Red Cross, a person will need blood approximately every two seconds. In the United States, about 6.8 million people donate blood each year. Simple, yet life-saving, donating blood saves lives.

Research shows that approximately 23.5 percent of the responding donors expressed that using any weed was acceptable before donating. The 420-friendly can donate not impaired. And donating blood saves lives.

1. Can I Still Donate Under The Influence?

People can still donate blood if they use marijuana. Although donating blood saves lives, don’t donate blood if you’re high. The blood drive team might turn you away, so you must try to stay sober. It is safer just not to intake any weed that day if you want to donate blood. But if consumption is necessary … don’t show up high and remember donating blood saves lives.

2. How Long Do I Wait To Donate Blood After Consumption?

There’s no true recommendation on how long people must wait before each use. The Red Cross has been known to recommend not showing up to donate blood if your memory is impaired or confused. As long as the person is sober, then it is okay to donate. It’s like the saying goes, “Know thyself after a few puffs in.” The time lapse between consumption and donation depends on how long the high lasts for you.

3. How Strong Can It Be?

The strain you use can be as strong as you want. Furthermore, people who use cannabis products are more likely to have a shorter weed high than someone who is not a regular user.  Another factor to consider is a person’s decision is how they use marijuana.

4. If I Donate Blood, Does The Recipient Get My THC Levels?

If you are worried that the person receiving your blood will fail a drug test, the answer is no. It will not affect the transfusion recipient at all. Some medications prohibit people from donating — acne medications like Accutane, Absorica, Claravis, Myorisan, Sotret, and Zenatane. Additionally, c certain medications like Finasteride and Dutasteride can also disqualify a donor from donating. If a donor has psoriasis, they might want to check their medications and ensure they’re not taking Soriatane.

People who take blood thinners should also be ary before donating blood. If you are taking Arixtra, Coumadin, or heparin, waiting seven days before you donate blood is recommended.

5. Will Blood Banks Test for THC?

The Red Cross will not test for THC. According to the FDA, it is not required to test for THC if someone donates blood and uses cannabis. Something that can be concerning is the use of synthetic cannabis. According to the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies, there are several cases of severe bleeding for synthetic weed users.

Synthetic cannabinoids are fake weed, pot, spice, K2, KD, OMG, Matrix, or Mr. Happy. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Synthetic cannabinoids are made by humans using chemicals to create this “fake weed.” It is not recommended to take them when donating blood at all. The blood banks will not let you donate blood if you do use it.

6. If You Used CBD, Can You Still Donate Blood?

You can still donate blood if you have used any CBD product. You can also take it the same day as you donate blood because it does not provide a euphoric effect.

CBD and THC are two compounds of the cannabis plant. THC is the compound that gives the consumer a high feeling. CBD does not give the consumer a high feeling.

People might have CBD because it can relieve pain, inflammation, nausea, migraines, depression, IBS, or mental disorders. It has also been approved by the FDA to help with seizures. THC can help people with pain, insomnia, nausea, and anxiety. According to a study by Dr. Hepler and Dr.Frank, weed can help people with glaucoma. The Red Cross will not test for CBD either. It will also not affect the transfusion recipient.

7. What Disqualifies You From Donating Blood?

Someone who consumes THC will not be disqualified from donating blood, but other factors might. According to the Red Cross, these are some of the factors that will disqualify someone.

Because donating blood saves lives

Be sure to discuss these factors at the clinic you are donating blood.

  • A person cannot donate if they are injecting illicit drugs
  • People cannot donate if they have received a tattoo or piercing in the past year.
  • They can also not donate if they had a blood transfusion or organ transplant in the past year.
  • A person who has a bleeding condition should be cautious.
    • If your blood doesn’t clot normally or you are taking blood thinners, you will not be able to donate.
  • If you previously have had leukemia or lymphoma, you cannot donate.
  • You cannot donate if you are under 110 lbs.
  • You cannot donate blood if you are pregnant
    • It is recommended to donate after six weeks of the date of birth.
  • A person cannot donate if they have AIDS or have tested positive for an HIV test.
  • If a person is on antibiotics, it is recommended not to donate.
    • They need to ensure that if the person has a bacterial infection, that might transfer to the blood recipient.
  • Age: You have to be 17 years old to donate. Some who are 16 can also donate but must get parental or guardian consent.

Additional Things To Consider Before You Go

A person using any cannabis product can donate blood. They must be sober when they donate, or they will be turned away. It is recommended not to consume any marijuana products that day to prevent memory impairment or no comprehension.

People can also donate blood if they use any CBD products. The transfusion recipient will not be affected if you use weed when donating blood. The FDA does not require blood banks to test for THC. If you use synthetic cannabinoids, it is recommended not to donate because it can be dangerous. Mostly anyone can donate blood as long as they are healthy and do not check for disqualifying factors.

This is the best skin care set that works: Dreka Release The Day Cleanser and Blue Tansy Moisturizer. A duo is a skin-loving combination with surprising results, Dreka is a plant-based beauty brand. It’s one of those dope products that “melts into skin.”  It’s one of the many things that make it the best skincare set.

Tried and tested on exhausted, dehydrated, post-partum, acne-prone skin, it makes skeptical eyebrows smile. And that’s because when Dreka Gates launched her namesake brand, Dreka, she wanted to pare down a regimen that was not only plant-based but genuinely worked.

Dreka Gates, the founder of one of the best skin care set
When Dreka Gates initially launched the DREKA it was intended to be a collection of natural products she made for herself to use at first. It is now becoming the best skincare set to work.

“When I created this line, I created it for myself at first,” Gates gushed when asked about the inspiration behind her brand.

Committed to radiant, healthy skin, Dreka is a collection of skin-loving products for beauty gurus and novices alike. For those considering plant-based beauty and don’t know where to start, this is the best skincare set to introduce to your skin, women or men, and all lovers in between, to natural skincare.

Natural & Quality Ingredients

Reading the labels on beauty brands, let’s face it, we’ve treated ingredients we couldn’t pronounce, as if they were this holy medicine that would save us from our skin.

But it was a bummer for me, six months in a skin regime patiently giving it time, but no results. I was left with skin screaming, “Help me,” every time I washed it.  Those products were not the best skin care set to use.

It was a frustrating and embarrassing cycle. My face depressed me. My skin betrayed me. It didn’t occur to me those ingredients were making my skin worse. Don’t even get me started on my sunscreen. I wanted to love those products, but they didn’t love me.

Real Ingredients & Cruelty-Free

Flash forward, to today, understanding product ingredients is everything. Most importantly, finding the best skincare set that was natural and plant-based was my mission. Tapping into Dreka the label reads clearly. Especially on Dreka’s website, too. There’s transparency, particularly when you click on the ingredients each ingredient click pops out its definition and usage. Everything is vegan and cruelty-free. Educated on plant-based products and the best skincare set, I shop confidently through Dreka.com

Dreka’s Release The Day Cleanser Is For Oily & Combination Skin Needing Hydration and Deep Cleansing

Dreka’s Release The Day Cleanser is a sulfate-free deep cleansing, yet gentle cleanser. The 100ml jar loves my combination skin.

Twice a day, as recommended, I use two to three pumps. If you want more of a soapy feel, pump a couple more. With my fingers, I gently move in an upward circular motion. I rinsed well and pat dry. I follow it with Dreka Blue Tansy Moisturizer

The Key Ingredients In Dreka’s Release The Day Cleanser

  • Saccharomyces (Yeast) Ferment Filtrate: Rich in minerals, amino acids, and vitamins this powerhouse ingredient helps firm and invigorate the skin helping to boost the skin’s natural renewal process and keep the friendly bacteria in check.
  • Lycium Chinese Fruit Extract: Known commonly as goji berry, this red/orange berry might look small but is recognized as a powerful antioxidant and also doubles as an effective skin-softening agent.
  • Camelia Senesis Leaf Extract: Also known as Green Tea, this thriving leaf is made up of a variety of chemical compounds namely amino acids, caffeine, and antioxidants more powerful than vitamin C. The inherent properties offer a soothing and stress-relieving effect on the mind, body, and skin.
  • Fruit Acid Complex: A concentrated blend of five botanical extracts:
    • Bilberry
    • Sugar Cane
    • Sugar Maple
    • Orange
    • Lemon.

These extracts contain several naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids that have been shown to promote smoother, younger-looking skin by increasing the rate of cell renewal.

Dreka’s Release The Day Cleanser didn’t strip or dry out my skin. When I tell you silky smooth. It’s silky. It feels and smells, in my Outkast voice, “so fresh and so clean.”

Being so simple and gentle is why it’s the best skincare set.

Blue Tansy Moisturizer Hydrates & Soothes Irritated Skin

Dreka’s Blue Tansy Moisturizer is a lightweight moisturizer I use daily after washing my face when I wake up and at bedtime with the Release The Day Cleanser. In the first 50ml jar of the Blue Tansy Moisturizer, I applied it to my face and neck in an upward and outward sweeping motion.

Key Ingredients In Blue Tansy Moisturizer

  • Blue Tansy: An uplifting treat for your skin and your senses. Known for its calming, soothing, and anti-inflammatory properties, this super-hero ingredient is highly effective for fighting blemish-causing bacteria, clearing congested pores, and soothing the look of redness or irritation. When distilled for its oil, this white aromatic flower releases a chemical with a beautiful blue hue.
  • Squalene: Mimicking our own skin’s natural oils, this olive-derived antioxidant is suited to all skin types and promotes cell renewal, won’t clog pores, and is easily absorbed by the skin making it ideal for long-lasting hydration.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: This unrivaled moisture-grabbing ingredient can attract and harness moisture at 1000X its weight giving it a myriad of skin-boosting benefits from plumping and wrinkle-smoothing to radiance boosting.
  • Jojoba Seed: Similar to human skin, it can trick the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil and thus balance or reduce excess oil production, while still maintaining ample hydration. The natural vitamin E and B-complex vitamins inherent in this seed oil help with rejuvenating damaged skin and the look of premature aging.
  • Shea Butter: High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins make this buttery-smooth ingredient ideal for softening skin and creating a barrier that seals in moisture, without clogging pores.

True Story: First 30-Days With Dreka Release The Day Cleanser and Blue Tansy Moisturizer

When I turned 30, my once lovely, blemish-free face 20s skin, betrayed me. I expected to battle fine lines and wrinkles, not acne. It embarrassed me, and I caked on the makeup, but nothing worked.

Before and after picture
I should have known better, but I tried a glitter mask that promised to soothe the redness on my face. It was foolish but I was desperate.

Praying. Yes, praying over products is not an exaggeration. Name the brands. Plurarly speaking, brandssssssssssssss. I tried everything. The price didn’t matter. I could have slung products out of my bathroom from Sephora, Ulta, Lush, Kiehl’s, Target, and even Walmart.

I splurged on cleansers, moisturizers, masks, lip scrubs, lip balms, and astringents. Followed TikTok and IG beauty trends and explored Amazon finds. I even tried subscription boxes. But let’s be real, none of that stuff worked. I didn’t have the money to spend on all of it either.

Going Make-Up Free

In 2018, I forced myself to go makeup-free. My skin got better. By 2019, I hit a plateau yet a vicious cycle of acne. It was war. I invested more in skin care with the money I spent on makeup. Spa experiences became a thing. I was burnt out.

My skin kept getting worse. In 2021, I bought a glitter mask to help soothe the redness, but it only irritated my skin more. I know foolish to think that it would work, but desperation for a solution would make you try anything at least once. But the glitter irritated my skin and the breakout lasted longer than ever. Horrible, I know. You try combating acne-prone skin in a New York heat wave. It’s so disrespectful.

I Hope The Force Is With Me

On May 4, I tried the best skin care set, Dreka Release The Day Cleanser and Dreka Blue Tansy Moisturizer. I was nervous. It was time to try an alternative skincare routine. By June 8, my face was glowing. I am glowing.

This has upped the ante to the no-make-up life. The scars, the blemishes, the redness, and the irritated bumpy skin didn’t look so dramatic. I truly was less red. Best of all my skin wasn’t dry. It didn’t itch. Going to bed, the first night of the cleanser and moisturizer, my skin got relief for the first time in I can’t remember when.

One month after using DREKA the best skin care set
Dreka Release The Day Cleanser and Blue Tansy Moisturizer is the best skincare set that works.

Tapping Into A New Skincare Regimen

The duo, Dreka’s Release The Day Cleanser and Blue Tansy Moisturizer are now the cornerstone of morning and bedtime skincare. With the change in my skin, I felt motivated to try other products in Dreka’s skincare line. I’ve integrated as a part of my Dreka Skincare Ritual:

Alternative Sun Protectant For Acne Prone Skin

In pinpointing the ingredients that were wreaking havoc, I discovered that SPF facial sunscreens kept clogging my pores. As an alternative sun protectant, I apply Dreka Raspberry Seed Oil. On days I know I am going to be outdoors for longer periods, I add droplets to a dab of Blue Tansy moisturizer or sometimes just apply it directly to my skin.

To refresh and energize, I spray Rose Water and Ylang Ylang, Dreka’s Jardin Facial Mist, for a quick refresh in between errands and particularly after mid-afternoon 5K runs.

During the 2024 Essence Festival in New Orleans, I recently met with a very popular recording artist that many of you know. But to not sound like I am bashing or bad-mouthing, I will not say her name. As a fan of her message and music, I want her to succeed. However, I felt that her label and her team were doing her an injustice with her latest release.

Networking: You Never Know Who Is Asking The Questions

The question was asked, “What do you think about … [her music]?”

The crazy thing that happened was I did not know this person asking me the question was the Senior Vice President of marketing for the said artist and label. I expressed my deep displeasure as a fan of the rollout and was brutally honest, not only as a music aficionado but also as a professional marketer. I could tell something was off. It was like the frequency of this person shifted. I felt the side eye like my mama or my auntie would give me when they were ready to slap me on the side of my head as little a boy for me doing something stupid.

With each question the executive asked, I broke down the missteps from my point of view and how they were failing. I meant no disrespect. I was giving an honest opinion of what is now an obvious failed rollout.

The Truth Hurts, Sometimes

To be clear, I don’t know the priorities or inner workings of this label and its business agendas. But the life lesson is that we all sometimes need a hard truth told to us, from talent to management to decision-makers. These pills can be hard to swallow — trust me, I’ve been there. LOL, but what we can do is take that information to learn and progress positively.

Has this happened to you? Guess who the artist is and send us your reply to hello@fr8qu8ncy.com.
